BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION |

Eugene M. Cummings was born in Princeton, Illinois on April 3, 1941. He now resides in Lake Forest, Illinois and maintains a Chicago office at One North Wacker Drive.
Mr. Cummings graduated from Northwestern University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1969 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1970.
Mr. Cummings Joined United Airlines in June 1969, serving as a Boeing 737 Second Officer until his furlough in February 1972. While on furlough, Mr. Cummings practiced patent law, initially at his previous employer, Zenith Radio Corporation, and subsequently as an associate, and later as a partner, at Lockwood, Alex, FitzGibbon & Cummings, a Chicago intellectual property law firm.
During his furlough, Mr Cummings founded a Chicago-based engineering company, Telesonics Systems, Inc. for the purpose of developing a system for transmitting stereophonic sound over U.S. standard television channels. This system became the U.S. standard and is currently licensed to television manufacturers throughout the world.
Upon his return to United Airlines in 1979, Mr. Cummings served as a Boeing 727 Second Officer, a Boeing 727 First Officer, a Boeing 757 First Officer and finally, a Boeing 727 Captain. Mr. Cummings retired from United Airlines on April 30, 2001. Prior to and subsequent to his furlough, until January 1980, Mr. Cummings served on the ORD Grievance Committee, initially as a member and later as Chairman, and on the MEC Grievance Committee as Vice Chairman. Since January 1980, Mr. Cummings has served as a pilot member of the United Airlines Pilot system Board of Adjustment.
Mr. Cummings presently serves as a managing partner in Cook, Alex, McFarron, Manzo, Cummings & Mehler, Ltd., a Chicago intellectual property firm, and as President of Telesonics Systems, LLC, a Chicago-based patent licensing company actively involved in licensing DVD and digital video technology to the consumer electronics industry.
